Temporary gas heater that vents out the window

Temporary gas heater that vents out the window

This is the room that the fire was started in. They set up a propane tank outside and put a small furnace in the room venting out a hole in the plywood covering the window. Notice that the fire extinguisher is right next to the furnace. If the furnace were to catch on fire it would be very difficult to pick it up. Fire extinguisher should be "located by a means of egress", that is to say located by an escape route.

The stone platform in the corner is very well built. This little propane heater was our primary heat source for a while since there was no wood stove and the furnace wasn't set up correctly.

FYI: venting your furnace into the chimney is NOT recommended. This basically vents carbon monoxide into your house - especially when you don't have a stove hooked up!
